MILWAUKEE, WI – The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) hockey team has faced its fair share of challenges this season, but they are proving to be a resilient force on the ice. The mid-season update brings a rollercoaster of emotions for the Panthers, marked by a series of nail-biting encounters.

The recent stretch began with two closely contested battles against Marquette, resulting in back-to-back heartbreaking losses. The team then faced UW-Oshkosh, enduring an intense overtime clash that ended in an agonizing loss. Undeterred, the Panthers took to the ice the following night against Oshkosh once again, falling just short in another closely contested match.

However, adversity only seemed to fuel the fire within the UWM hockey team. The Panthers responded with an impressive four-game winning streak, demonstrating their determination and resilience. Two crucial victories on the road against Central Michigan set the stage for a triumphant return home, where they secured two more wins against division rival MSOE.

As the mid-season dust settles, UWM now stands at a respectable 8-9-2-0-1 (W,L,OTL,T,SOL) record. The team’s recent success has ignited a renewed sense of confidence and unity within the squad, with players and coaching staff alike eager to build on this momentum.

With the win streak at four, the Panthers took a well-deserved break for the Thanksgiving weekend. This pause in the action allows the team to regroup and recharge before facing their next formidable challenge. On December 1st and 2nd, UWM will host the #15 ranked Michigan Tech in what promises to be a thrilling series.

Looking further into the first semester schedule, UWM will close out the pre-holiday action with a showdown against #21 Purdue-Northwest on December 8th at home, followed by an away game on December 9th.

Head Coach Paul Wajgel expressed confidence in the team’s recent performances, stating, “The resilience and determination displayed by our players are commendable. We’ve learned from our early setbacks and are now focused on building upon this positive momentum. The upcoming games against Michigan Tech will be a true test of our progress, and we’re ready for the challenge. We’re taking it one game at a time, focusing on our process, and looking forward to the challenges that December brings”

As the Panthers gear up for their upcoming matchups, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing the continued growth and success of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee hockey team in the remainder of the semester.

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Hockey Team Makes Strides as the Season Progresses

Milwaukee, WI – October 23, 2023

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s hockey team has been on an exciting journey this season, showing remarkable progress and determination as they navigate their way through a challenging schedule. The Panthers started the season with some tough losses but have since rallied, displaying their resilience and potential.

The season opener saw the UW-Milwaukee hockey team face off against the formidable Louisville Cardinals, a tough opponent by any measure. Although they put up a valiant effort, the Panthers fell short, suffering a tough series loss. Their second series of the season, against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), also ended in disappointment as they were unable to secure a win.

However, the team’s fortunes began to turn around when they faced off against Aurora University. In a thrilling match, the Panthers secured their first win of the season in game 2, showcasing their potential and tenacity.

The following week, the Panthers faced a strong DePaul University team and managed to take them into overtime. While they couldn’t clinch the victory, the team demonstrated their ability to compete with top-tier teams. The Panthers were hungry for more success.

The momentum continued to build as they split the series with Roosevelt University, showing that they could go toe-to-toe with another competitive squad. But the most significant achievement came when they took on the Lewis Flyers. The Panthers delivered an impressive performance, sweeping the series and securing a crucial pair of victories.

With this impressive sequence of results, the UW-Milwaukee hockey team now holds a record of 4-6-1-1, a testament to their growing strength as a team. Leading the charge is Jake Boudreau, the team’s leading scorer, with six goals and seven assists to his name. His contributions have been vital to the team’s success. Captain Cade Knoeppel has been instrumental in providing leadership both on and off the ice, guiding his teammates towards their goals.

As the season progresses, the Panthers are now setting their sights on an eagerly anticipated matchup with their cross-town rivals, Marquette University. This game promises to be a thrilling showdown and a significant test of their skills and determination.

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee hockey team has demonstrated that, while the season started with its share of challenges, they are a team on the rise, steadily improving and growing stronger with each game. The Panthers are determined to continue their journey, striving for success and aiming to make their mark in the world of college hockey. As they prepare to face Marquette, their loyal fans eagerly await another thrilling chapter in their season.
